Privacy Policy

Quizbeat is a live quiz platform. Hosts create and run quizzes from the web app; players join live games from a browser or the Quizbeat mobile app using a game code and a nickname. This policy describes what data we collect from hosts and players, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to the website at quizbeat.app and to the Quizbeat iOS app.

Players do not create accounts. When you join a game, we create an anonymous session identifier so the game can recognize your device (for example, to let you rejoin if you close the app mid-game). We also collect the nickname you choose, your answers, response times, and scores. Nicknames are visible to the host and other players in the same game.

We do not ask players for their name, email address, phone number, location, contacts, or photos. The mobile app requests no device permissions beyond network access.

Hosts create an account with an email address and password (or a supported sign-in provider). We store your account details, the quizzes you create, and your game history. If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment is processed by Stripe; we do not store your card number. If you connect your own AI provider key to generate quiz questions, the key is stored encrypted and used only to generate content on your behalf.

We use the data above solely to run the service: operating live games in real time, scoring answers, showing leaderboards, maintaining host accounts, and processing subscriptions. We do not sell personal data, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not track users across other companies’ apps or websites.

Game and account data is stored with Supabase, our database and authentication provider, protected by row-level security so each user can only access their own data. Payments are handled by Stripe. These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy and security commitments.

Player sessions are anonymous and tied to a game; scores and nicknames persist as part of a game’s results until the host deletes the game. Hosts can delete quizzes, games, or their entire account at any time from the dashboard. To request deletion of any data, contact us at the address below and we will action it within 30 days.

Quizbeat is a general-audience service. Players can participate without providing any personal information beyond a self-chosen nickname. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through a nickname, contact us and we will remove it.

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the effective date above and, for hosts, note the change in the product. Continued use of the service after a change means you accept the updated policy.
